Process

The metal is immersed in an inorganic salt solution, where an ion-exchange reaction forms a uniform oxide layer.

Corrosion Resistance

  • After 8 hours, untreated magnesium showed severe corrosion and chromate coating showed localized corrosion, while magnesium alloy coating exhibited no corrosion.

  • In addition, magnesium alloy coating provided a uniform, rich color finish, whereas direct painting resulted in uneven and less saturated appearance.

  • Metal conversion coating (also known as chemical conversion coating) is primarily applied to aluminum and magnesium alloys to enhance electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance.

  • This treatment process involves immersing the workpiece in an inorganic salt solution, forming a uniform and fine oxide layer on the surface.

  • To advance toward environmentally friendly manufacturing processes, EZ Pro Coat has independently developed a proprietary coating technology that is completely free of trivalent/hexavalent chromium and nickel. This innovation aims to gradually replace conventional chromium-based and electroless nickel plating processes widely used in the industry.
