Professor Shun-Yi Chien of EZ ProCoat Tech. Receives 2026 NSTC Future Tech Award for Next-Generation Green Surface Treatment Technology

The R&D team led by Professor Shun-Yi Chien of Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT), founder of EZ ProCoat Tech., has once again received national recognition for its innovative technology, “Next-Generation Green and Eco-Friendly Anti-Corrosion Coating Technology for Magnesium Alloys.”
Following its receipt of the TREE Award (Research Institution Entrepreneurship Potential Award) from Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs in June 2026, the technology has now been honored with the 2026 Future Tech Award by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC).
The award-winning technology will be showcased at the Future Tech Pavilion of the 2026 Taiwan Innotech Expo, held from September 17 to 19, 2026, at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1.
Professor Chien has dedicated many years to research on magnesium alloy surface treatment and green manufacturing processes. This latest recognition highlights the technology’s breakthroughs in innovation, industrial application potential, and sustainability.
Founded in June 2026, EZ ProCoat Tech. focuses on transforming academic research outcomes into scalable surface treatment solutions, equipment technologies, and technical services. As a spin-off company from Ming Chi University of Technology, the company aims to establish Taiwan as a leader in green magnesium alloy coating technologies while expanding into non-China-centered supply chains and the global lightweight materials market.
Professor Chien stated:
“This award is another recognition of our team’s years of dedication to green manufacturing processes and materials applications. Traditionally, surface treatment has faced significant barriers to industrial adoption due to its high energy consumption and environmental impact. Through low-pollution, highly efficient, and scalable technologies, we hope to help Taiwanese companies and international partners bring research innovations from the laboratory into real-world production lines and markets.”
Several international companies have already approached the team to discuss potential OEM/ODM partnerships, equipment implementation, and market applications, demonstrating strong international interest in the technology and its potential within the green manufacturing supply chain. EZ ProCoat Tech. will continue engaging with prospective partners through in-depth discussions during the Future Tech Pavilion exhibition and subsequent business meetings.
EZ ProCoat Tech. sincerely invites representatives from industry, government, academia, and research institutions to visit the Future Tech Pavilion at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1 from September 17 to 19 and join us in witnessing Taiwan’s green surface treatment technologies advance onto the global stage.
